This blog has been inaugurated to mark the release of the Second Edition of my ON THE LOOM OF TIME The Portrait of My Life and Times. Its objectives are to make it known to all my fellow humans how one of them, I mean this humble self, has lived, thought and acted in his life’s many coloured dome, seldom notable but never notorious. As I have touched many shores and journeyed through many realms , you may find God’s plenty in miniature in the architecture at which I have been at work over all these seven decades and odd years.

The purpose of this Blog is to establish a continuing bond for exchange of ideas as, I honestly feel, the book would enable us to respond more creatively and with greater specificity in our thoughts and our vision.

It is a non-commercial pursuit

The writing of this book is for me a non-commercial pursuit. All rights & interests are reserved and vested exclusively with the Draupadi Devi-Gopi Kant Jha Charitable Trust. Income attributable to such rights would accrue to the said Trust. For me it is enough that my quest in writing this book has served me well at least in two ways which I value a lot. First, this has provided even in tense moments joy of catharsis that generates serenity even when bound on life’s wheel of fire. Second, this has helped us realise that the humans have still a long way to go evolving and maturing to see the sublime beauty of God’s creations.

I do not know what more remains to be said n acknowledging my debts to others than what I had said in the ‘Introduction’ to this book : to quote those lines—

“I have benefited from many others in writing this. I have acknowledged some, but I have failed in acknowledging most others. I hope you will forgive me for my lapses. While posted in Kolkata as a Commissioner of Income-tax, I had watched in Kumhartoli how the images of Goddess Durga were made. They brought clay from ponds, and hay and straw from the fields, created colours from vegetables, drew thoughts from the Shastras, and revealed in the images their religious and aesthetic sensibility: making the earthen images of Durga into the divine presence of the Goddess Herself.”

This Blog has been conceived and designed by my grandson, Shivam Jha, a student of law at O.P. Jindal Global University. It has been restructured and enriched by my friend Shri Shikher Singh of taxindiaonline.com. I wish them well, and I shower my blessings for their happy life and brilliant future.
